Sheriff: Suspect sold 26 stolen cars for crushing

An Atlanta man has been arrested for selling 26 stolen vehicles to two local auto parts stores, sheriff’s investigators said. Christopher Davis, 53, of Atlanta would sell the vehicles, which were then crushed to recover as recyclable metals, officials said.

The vehicles were recovered between May and November 2011 after they were sold to Quality Used Auto Parts and M&S Auto Parts on Roberts Road in north Fayette County.

Both businesses cooperated with the investigation and provided information that led to Davis’s arrest on Nov. 2.

Davis was charged with 26 counts of theft by receiving stolen vehicle.

In an unrelated case, an Americus woman has been arrested for depositing a stolen check belonging to a Fayette residents in her J.P. Morgan checking account. Tiffany Robinson, 29, was charged with one count of identity fraud.
