A Tyrone man is in custody on charges of aggravated assault and making terroristic threats stemming from an altercation with his girlfriend and her brother during which he produced a handgun and threatened to shoot them.

Michael J. Dixon, 22, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of terroristic threats and acts, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Peachtree City Police Department spokesman Chris Hyatt said the Nov. 24 incident occurred at the Stevens Entry apartment of Dixon’s girlfriend where her brother also resides.

Hyatt said Dixon and the girlfriend were arguing over a break-up, during which she told him to leave on multiple occasions, adding that the woman’s brother heard the argument and also told Dixon to leave.

At one point, Dixon shoved the brother, who shoved back in return, said Hyatt, noting that Dixon then pulled a handgun, racked it, pointed it at the siblings and said he would shoot them.

Hyatt said it was during the altercation that 911 was called in reference to a “gun pointed at another,” with Dixon soon leaving the apartment. Officers responded to the scene and detained Dixon in the parking lot.

After an investigation, Dixon was placed in custody, said Hyatt.
