Beginning Monday, Kirkley Road in northwest Fayette County will be closed to thru traffic because of the deteriorating condition of culverts underneath the road at Trickum Creek, county officials have said.
The county expects the road to be closed for several months, but the county will work “aggressively” to build a new creek crossing at the location. There was money programmed into this year’s budget to handle the repairs.
The hope is to have a temporary fix ready to re-open traffic in the next few weeks, but once the full repair project is underway it could take about two to three months, said County Manager Jack Krakeel.
The county has notified the school system since it runs buses on that road, and there will be detour signs put in place to notify motorists.
