City opens Kedron pools and gym — 

Covid-19’s social distancing rules have claimed another victim: The iconic Peachtree City 4th of July parade with a twilight fireworks show.

Both the parade and fireworks have been postponed until Monday, Sept. 7, Labor Day, Mayor Vanessa Fleisch announced Monday.

Meanwhile, the city re-opened the Kedron Fieldhouse and Aquatic Center Monday. You can shoot some hoops — but no half- or full-court play — and have some solo pickleball sessions.

Only swimmers — pre-showered before you get there — will be allowed in pool area, except for parents watching their own children.

Here’s the full set of rules:

Gym hours are noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday 1 to 5 p.m. “Basketball restrictions include shooting only, no half/full court or one-on-one play, maximum of three players at each basket, one-hour sessions, and please bring your own ball,” says the city’s Updates newsletter.

Pickleball is available for singles play only, and that means two players on the court for one-hour sessions with two waiting players on the bleachers.

Pool hours are noon to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Here are the rules:

“Swimmers should arrive showered and ready to swim. The bathrooms will be open, but there will be no dressing area access. Tables, chairs and umbrellas will not be provided on deck, but you may bring your own portable chairs. The swim sessions are 1.5 hours (one hour, 30 minutes). Only swimmers allowed in the pool area, with the exception of parents watching children. No organized groups, camps, or pool rentals until further notice. Additional restrictions include one swimmer per lane in the lap pool. Small pool – roped off sections are available and only those who live in the same home permitted in each section,” Updates says.
