Fayette middle schools finish strong in regional math competition

Fayette County’s middle schools had a strong performance at the Griffin RESA Regional Middle School Math Contest, with teams earning the top two placements in two divisions and students taking the top two placements in the individual winners overall category.

J.C. Booth Middle and Rising Starr Middle placed first and second, respectively, in Division III (larger schools).

Whitewater Middle took first place in Division II (medium schools), and Flat Rock Middle placed third in Division I (smaller schools).

Students from Rising Starr and Whitewater Middle schools secured the top two placements in the individual winners overall category. Ginger Swayne of Rising Starr Middle took first, and Grace Burns of Whitewater Middle placed second.

Over 30 middle schools and more than 150 students took part in the competition. All winners received a trophy.

The Griffin RESA Middle School Math Contest is a regional competition among middle schools in the Griffin RESA region that consists of school systems in Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
