A Clayton County man is in custody following the Nov. 19 hit and run death of 63-year-old Fayetteville resident Sherlock McCall on North Jeff Davis Drive.

Gino Fisher, 48, is being charged with felony hit and run and leaving the scene of an accident with injury/damage, according to Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett.

Police initiated a criminal hit and run investigation after 63-year-old Fayetteville resident Sherlock McCall was struck and killed by a motorist Tuesday night, Nov. 19, on North Jeff Davis Drive near the Jefferson Avenue intersection, Burdett said previously.

Burdett said McCall was apparently crossing North Jeff Davis Drive on foot around 9 p.m. when he was hit by the vehicle. McCall was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

In a Nov. 21 statement, Burdett said, “The Fayetteville Police Department has identified the suspect in the Nov. 19 fatal hit and run accident. After an exhaustive police investigation, a person of interest was interviewed and later confessed to their involvement in the fatal accident killing the victim in the case.”

Burdett said arrest warrants for Fisher were sought and are pending, adding that Fisher is currently lodged in the Fayette County Jail.
