Daniel Lee Williams, 88, of Riverdale passed away on April 20, 2011.
Mr. Williams was born in Woolsey, GA. He served his country as a decorated Army Veteran of World War II serving in 5 European campaigns including the Normandy invasion. He is retired from Ft. Gillem and AAFES. He also served his community as a City Councilman for the City of Riverdale, Master of Riverdale Masonic Lodge and Deacon of Riverdale First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margie Mae “Trixie” Williams, who passed away on February 8, 2011 and by his son Douglas Williams.
He is survived by his daughter Sherry Henry and her husband Toney of Fayetteville; daughter-in-law Beth Williams of Jonesboro ; three grandchildren, Ike Williams, and Danielle Lee and Davis Henry; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Dr. Jeff Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
