A Riverdale man was arrested on aggravated assault charges after striking a store employee with his vehicle after an exchange of words in a business on North Glynn Street.

Dezmond M. Taylor, 22, of Riverdale, was charged with aggravated assault, failure to stop at accident with damages and terroristic threats, according to the Fayette County Jail.

Fayetteville Police Department spokesperson Ann Marie Burdett said the incident occurred in the afternoon hours of Aug. 13 at a business on North Glynn Street.

Taylor allegedly entered a business with issues about merchandise purchased at the location. An employee of the business determined that the merchandise had not been purchased there, Burdett said.

Burdett said Taylor made agitated remarks and left the store, and was followed by an employee who took photos of Taylor’s license plate and vehicle.

As the employee was walking back to the store, Taylor struck the employee in the torso area with his vehicle and left the area.

The employee was not injured, Burdett said.

Officers arriving at the scene checked the store’s video and subsequently located and arrested Taylor, Burdett said.
