A Riverdale woman is in jail for cashing checks stolen from the home of a Fayette County woman.

Tina M. Padgett, 37, (shown in jail photo) was charged with two counts of elder abuse and three counts of financial identity fraud, according to Fayette County Jail records.

Sheriff Barry Babb said a victim over age 65 reported that she had notice a sum of money having been removed from her bank account.

Sheriff’s investigators sent a subpoena to the bank and subsequently obtained video that showed a woman cashing the victim’s checks, Babb said, adding the woman was later identified as Padgett.

As for a potential connection with the victim, Babb said one of Padgett’s relatives was found going through discarded items at the victim’s home.
