Chasten X. McCrary, a native of Fayetteville, was selected as Miss Black Georgia USA 2019 Nov. 18 on the campus of Albany State University. She advances to the Miss Black USA pageant being held in Washington D.C. in August. Chasten is the daughter of Xavier and Angel McCrary and is a 2014 graduate of Sandy Creek High School.
In addition to winning the crown Chasten won the Miss Scholastic Award (4.0 GPA Mississippi State University), the Miss Social Media Award, and the talent competition singing “A Change Gonna Come” by Sam Cook.
The 22-year-old MSU college admission counselor was chosen from a field of 13 contestants competing in interview, athletic wear, on-stage question, and evening wear.

“I look forward to serving as Miss Black Georgia USA and utilizing this platform to highlight educational matters impeding the forward movement of our youth.,” said Chasten.
Chasten has previously competed in scholarship pageants winning the title of Miss Black and Gold 2017 for the District of Mississippi and she placed 1st runner-up for the Miss Black & Gold Southern Region. To date her scholarship earnings reach over $5, 000.. For the months to come Chasten will continue her work of social change as she prepares to represent Georgia at the Miss Black USA pageant.
