Fayette looking for smash-and-grab thieves

The period of Sept. 1-8 came with several entering auto incidents and thefts in unincorporated Fayette County.

A Sept. 1 incident near the intersection of Ga. Highway 314 and Kenwood Road resulted in the theft of construction tools from a trailer operated by a road crew, said Sheriff Barry Babb.

A vehicle parked at a business on Ga. Highway 54 West on Sept. 2 had a passenger window smashed and electronics and a firearm stolen, Babb said.

Also on Sept. 2, lawn equipment was stolen from a truck parked at a residence on Dickson Street off Hwy. 314, said Babb.

A third incident on Sept. 2 involved an vehicle entered at McCurry Park on McDonough Road. A passenger window was broken and a wallet from stolen from the center console, Babb said.

Babb said a closed utility trailer was stolen at a residence on North Drive off Ga. Highway 279 on Sept. 7.
