A proposed retail development on nearly 10 acres along Ga. Highway 85 North near the Fayette Pavilion was the subject of a work session item at the April 25 meeting of the Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission.

Project representative Archie Wannamaker gave an overview of the project that asks for the annexation and rezoning of 9.81 acres along Walker Avenue on the east side of Hwy. 85 North near the new Starbucks.

As proposed, the property would include five buildings facing the highway and four at the rear of the property, with all likely being restaurants. A number of those would be requesting drive-thru windows for which special exceptions would be sought.

Wannamaker at the urging of commissioners said he will attempt to determine the number of restaurants needing drive-thru capability and will bring that information back to the commission next month. He said some of the restaurants would be fast food while others would be of the sit-down variety.

Wannamaker said he would work on including additional greenspace and could explore the idea of having fewer buildings on the site.
