Georgia Military College’s Fairburn campus is proud to host the annual Fairburn TubaChristmas on Saturday, Dec. 4, at 1 p.m. TubaChristmas was founded in 1974 by tubist Harvey Phillips as a way to honor his teacher, the late great tubist William J. Bell, who was born on Christmas Day in 1902. Every TubaChristmas performance features traditional Christmas carols that were specially arranged for the first TubaChristmas by Alec Wilder on December 22, 1974. This year, 2010, will be the 37th annual presentation of TubaChristmas, with concerts being presented in over 200 cities throughout the United States and in several foreign countries.
To honor this event, Georgia Military College will offer tours of the campus, provide free hot chocolate, and waive the application fee for those who apply for admission that day. We will also be collecting various items for charity: books, clothes, blankets, canned food, and Dial soap. For more information please visit s2.webstarts.com/FairburnTubaChristmas/index.html.
