Christianity, Science, the Bible conference starts tomorrow at Heritage in Fayetteville

Heritage Church in Fayetteville will host a free conference on Christianity, Science, and the Bible Sept, 16-18, from 6:30 – 9 p.m. each evening.

The conference will feature Professor A.C. McIntosh of Leeds University, England, and Dr. Charles Thaxton of Peachtree City, and will be held at Heritage Church, 150 Lester Road, Fayetteville. Refreshments will be provided.

On Thursday, Sept. 16, Thaxton (6:30) will lecture on Christianity and Science, and McIntosh (7:30) will address Design Intelligence and the Word of God.

On Friday, Sept. 17, McIntosh (6:30) will speak on The Intricacies of Flight, and Thaxton (7:30) will discuss the issue of Global Warming.

On Saturday, Sept. 18, Thaxton (6:30) will speak about the Origin of Life, and McIntosh (7:30) will give a lecture entitled Fossils, Dinosaur Bones, and the Bible.

McIntosh, DSc, FIMA, C.Math, FInstE, CEng, holds a chair in Thermodynamics and Combustion Theory in the Fuel and Energy Department at the University of Leeds, where he lectures and researches in the field of combustion and explosions. He is a trained mathematician and worked in aerodynamics at Cranfield University and the Royal Aircraft Establishment (Bedford) before coming to Leeds. He is author of the book Genesis for Today – Showing the relevance of the Creation / Evolution debate to today’s society, has a chapter on ‘Design in the world and the Universe’ in the recent book, In Six Days – Why 50 scientists choose to believe in Creation. These and other books will be available at the lecture.

Thaxton, author of The Mystery of Life’s Origin and The Soul of Science, earned his Ph.D. in physical chemistry from Iowa State University. He has also completed post-doctoral studies in the history and philosophy of science at Harvard University and in molecular biology at Brandeis University.

He and his wife, Carole, founded KONOS Academy and teach an intensive, classical Christian program for home-schoolers. Thaxton’s books will also be available at the conference.
