Mr. and Mrs. Eugene H. Garner (Dot and Gene) of Fayetteville celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary Sept. 5, 2010. They married Sept. 5, 1940 in Atlanta at the ages of 19 and 18 years old.

The Garners now reside in Fayetteville, but, since Gene worked for the air force as a quality control inspector, they have moved several times over the years. They lived in Forest Park, Marietta, Roswell, N.M., Garrison, N.D. and in Titusville, Fla. where the Air Force was hired by NASA to work on missles. Gene worked there until 1976 and retired at age 55.

In Titusville, they were in the Titusville Twirl-a-Ways Square Dance Club and the Bear Club and enjoyed square dancing and round dancing for more than 30 years.

The Garners have three children, Martha, Eugene H. Jr. and Richard L., eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
