Cara Clements of Fayetteville was awarded $1,500 in college scholarship money for participation in a national campaign by DoSomething.org, supported by Fastweb, an online resource for paying and preparing students for college.

Caption Obvious helps YouTubers make better captions for the deaf and hard of hearing community. The campaign had young people like Clements find mistakes in Youtube’s subtitles and respectfully ask YouTube creators to fix them as 360 million of folks globally rely on closed captions to understand videos.

“Every person deserves an equal opportunity to enjoy the simple things in life, such as listening to and understanding online videos,” said Clements, whose goals is to attend Yale University and major in film and theater.
