Fayette County Public Schools has been awarded the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) Exemplary School Board recognition for a second consecutive year. The school system is one of 39 in the state to receive the 2016 Exemplary Board status.

The Fayette County Board of Education met and or exceeded the criteria set forth by GSBA to earn Exemplary Board status, which includes strategic planning, incorporating the Georgia Vision Project into the strategic plan, self-assessment, and annual training.

The GSBA Board recognition program is a three-year, three tiered program, starting with Quality Board status (met by the school system in 2013) and Distinguished Board status(met by the school system in 2014).

The recognition program was designed to showcase best practices in school governance and leadership. Georgia school superintendents and board members developed the program based on the state board of education’s standards for effective governance.
