Fayette salutes school bus drivers this week

Fayette County Schools is honoring bus drivers Oct. 17-21 as part of School Bus Driver Appreciation Week.

Each day during the school year, Fayette County School System buses transport students throughout the county, from those living along the rural roads of Brooks to the bustling neighborhoods of Peachtree City. Thanks to the dedicated school bus drivers who cover over 170 routes both morning and afternoon, 56 percent of the county’s student population is transported safely to and from school each day.

Schools across the county are honoring bus drivers throughout the week and are recognizing them for their commitment to safely transporting students.

J.C. Booth Middle got an early start by showing appreciation to their bus drivers with a special breakfast hosted at the school, as well as awarding door prizes that were donated by the PTO.

“It was just a small token of appreciation for all that they do for us,” said Carolyn Comer, assistant principal and organizer of the breakfast.

The community is invited to help the school system honor its bus drivers by taking time to say “thank you” to the dedicated, hardworking, professional men and women who safely transport the county’s students throughout the school year.
