In early October, Gianfranco Folchitto will provide a photographic tour of one of the world’s greatest cities at the Peachtree City Library on the lower level in the Floy Farr Room.

The photographer will showcase his photographs of Rome beginning Monday, Oct. 3, with a 6 p.m. presentation that is free and open to the public.

The exhibit will remain in the library’s Floy Farr room through Oct. 12 and will be viewable by arrangement with library staff. To make arrangements, phone 770-631-2520 or email Rebecca Watts at [email protected].

Born in Rome, Folchitto played professional basketball for 15 years. After finishing his basketball career, he then spent 30+ years with General Motors Italy before joining with Sotteranei de Roma (Underground Rome) as a specialist and archaeologist providing photographic services.

Folchitto has been a resident of Coweta County since 2013 and assists his two children, Cristiana and Alessandro, in running the family’s restaurant, Borgo Italia, in Peachtree City.  His son Alessandro, a former Italian Special Forces officer, is also a professional stuntman, actor, and special effects technician.

This year the Peachtree City Library’s Art Initiative is focusing on photography during the month of October with several photo exhibits in place. In addition to Folchitto’s work, be sure to check out over 40 photos by members of the Peachtree City Photography Club on the library’s main level.

The library also has a photography-related collection of E. Lee Eltzroth on display, where you’ll see a range of camera toys as well as a selection of photographs from early Georgia photographers.  Also, the exhibit of images from photojournalist Michael Geissinger continues through October.
