The community is invited to participate Tuesday in celebrating National Night Out with multiple law enforcement agencies at two different locations tonight. One event will be in front of the Fayetteville Target from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Fayette Pavilion shopping center. The other will be in front of Peachtree City’s Target store from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kedron Village shopping center.

The events will be a special treat for children, as there will be fire trucks, helicopters, police vehicles and others on display.

National Night Out is devoted to promoting partnerships between police and the community and also strengthening neighborhood spirit. The program is also sending a message to criminals so they can know neighborhoods are organized and fighting against crime.

The Peachtree City Police Department is hosting the event at the Kedron Village Target, which will include a scavenger hunt for children with prizes that will be claimed at businesses in the Kedron Village Shopping Center.

Immediately following Peachtree City’s event, police will spend some time the Wynnmeade subdivision with their lights activated in an effort to foster communications with residents in the area, according to police Lt. Mark Brown.

Participating agencies in Fayetteville’s event include the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayette County Fire/EMS, Fayetteville Police Department, Fayetteville Fire/EMS, Fayette County Marshal’s Office, Fayette County 911 and Fayette County Animal Control.
