Interested residents have three opportunities in the next nine days to voice their opinion about Fayetteville’s tax increase for the new fiscal year.
The city has tentatively adopted a millage rate that will require an increase in property taxes by 3.42 percent over the rollback rate.
The first public hearing on the issue is tomorrow (Aug. 25) at Fayetteville City Hall at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m..
The final public hearing is September 1 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall..
The tentative increase will result in a millage rate of 3.874 mills, which is an increase of .128 mills. Without the tentative tax increase, the millage rate would be no more than 3.746 mills. The proposed tax increase for a home with a fair market value of $150,000 is approximately $7.68 and the proposed tax increase for non-homestead property with a fair market value of $350,000 is approximately $17.92.
