The Georgia Department of Education has awarded the Exceptional Children’s Services Department of Fayette County Public Schools with a 2016 Special Education District Leadership Award based on graduation rate and dropout data.

Fayette is one of six districts across the state that received the award for high graduation and low dropout rates for special education students. Fayette’s graduation rate for special education is over 71 percent, and the dropout rate is 1.5 percent.

The award was presented to the school system at a special education conference hosted by the Georgia Department of Education in June.
