The period of June 27-30 saw three residential burglaries in unincorporated Fayette County.
A burglary reported on June 30 occurred on Lockwood Drive off Ga. Highway 92 South. Sheriff Barry Babb said the homeowner hired 49-year-old Griffin resident Scottie Henry for sheetrock work in his carport. The homeowner subsequently left and, upon his return, found a tarp outside the home covering a number of items from the home.
The homeowner confronted Henry, resulting in Henry attempting to leave. But the homeowner restrained Henry and called deputies who arrived and later charged Henry with burglary, Babb said.
Items from the home were also found around trees and under bushes in the yard. An array of items, such as mechanical equipment, towels and shampoo were located in areas around the yard, said Babb. It was believed that Henry entered the house through a rear door.
A second burglary was reported on June 30 at a residence on Padgett Road off Ga. Highway 85 in south Fayette. The victim said the burglary, for which no forced entry was found, occurred between 6 a.m. and 2:15 p.m., said Babb.
Babb said a television, laptop computer, jewelry and a knife collection were stolen.
A third burglary was also reported on June 30 on Broadwater Drive near Fayetteville where carpeting had been installed in a vacant house. The company reported that $500 in carpet had been installed on June 29 and was missing the following day, Babb said.
