Scholarships awarded to local students

Two students from Peachtree City are among nine from the southern United States who have received $2,000 this year through Interfor Corporation’s Tolleson-Wood Family Scholarship to help them achieve their academic and career goals.

“The Tolleson-Wood Family Scholarship demonstrates our commitment to our employees and the communities where we operate,” Todd Mullis, vice president, US South Operations. “We are proud to recognize these nine students and support their academic goals. We wish them the best of luck in their future endeavors.”

Elisha Flowers, who attends Lovejoy High School, plans to pursue a degree in biology at Kennesaw State University with the goal of becoming a veterinarian. She is a member of her school’s SADD club, which saves lives by empowering teens to stand strong against destructive decisions.

Ryan Schmidt is a management information systems major at Texas A&M University, and is interested in a career in computer systems management. Ryan has been a resident advisor for the Texas A&M Department of Residence Life for the last two years.
