The Dairy Queen on North Glynn Street has long been a retail landmark in Fayetteville. It’s slated to be torn down this summer.

But Blizzard lovers and DQ enthusiasts need not mourn for long: A new and bigger DQ will be built in its place.

The Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission on June 28 will hear a proposal to demolish the restaurant and construct a replacement Dairy Queen on the site.

The proposal includes construction of a 1,886 sq. ft. building with seating for 47 inside, a patio with 20 seats and a drive-thru lane.

The exterior is proposed to include cultured stone and pre-finished metal panels.
