Update: 1:12 p.m. – One westbound lane and both eastbound lanes of Ga. Highwy 54 in Peachtree City between Peachtree Parkway and Stevens Entry are now open.
Original story: The rupture of a main gas line in the heart of Peachtree City on Tuesday morning is causing large traffic delays. It could be as late as Tuesday night before the rupture is repaired.
Peachtree City Police advise motorists to expect road closures and no access to the Peachtree Crossings retail center on Ga. Highway 54 near Peachtree Parkway. The road closure extends to Stevens Entry to the east.
Police at noon said the closures are expected to be in effect for up to eight hours.
Motorists intending to travel through Peachtree City on Hwy. 54 anywhere near the area should seek an alternate route.
