Residents curious about Fayetteville’s plans to expand and create a more vibrant downtown should head to City Hall Thursday.
City officials announced another town hall meeting from 6-8 p.m. to get the public’s impression of the master plan.
The project area encompasses approximately 75 acres between Lanier Ave (Ga. Highway 54), Glynn Street (Ga. Highway 85) and Grady Avenue, which diagonally connects the two highways.
The plan includes a variety of uses such as single-family, multi-family, mixed use and expanded opportunities for retail and office. The plan includes looking at future uses for the county complex located at Hwy. 85 and Stonewall Avenue. The new plan features a new city hall on current school board property.
Thursday’s meeting will feature experts taking questions from small groups at the meeting. Community Development Director Brian Wismer said the small groups should allo for more input from the residents
“This will be attractive to millennials and also empty-nesters who want to downsize and live near more amenities,” he said.
The plan calls for the higher density development to be located close to downtown, and stepping down as it gets to Grady Avenue with single-family homes.
The city is expected to gather comments from the residents, and hold another town hall meeting in late March, with a council vote on the proposal set for April.
