0Allison Marie Bertke and Ryan Joseph Downey were married at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City on June 12, 2010. Father Jimmy Adams conducted the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Bertke of Peachtree City. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in history at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Downey of Peachtree City. He is employed by the Poetry Center of Chicago as a poetry instructor in alternative justice programs and also in the Chicago Public Schools.
Doran Garrow of Gibsonia, Pa., served as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Brackman and Valerie Brackman, cousins of the bride, of Celina, Ohio. Hannah Gehret of Versailles, Ohio, served as flower girl.
Shay Downey of Kennesaw, the groom’s brother, served as best man. Groomsmen were Carter Vaughn, friend of the groom, of San Diego, Calif., and Devin Bertke of Peachtree City. Junior Groomsmen were Travis Bertke and Derek Bertke of Peachtree City. Wesley Gehret of Versailles, Ohio, served as ring bearer.
An evening of celebration with dinner and dancing at Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City followed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Downey honeymooned in Savannah and now reside in Chicago.
