When the Atlanta Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy extended an invitation to the Sandy Creek High STEM Academy to attend an energy awareness event at Georgia Tech, the school took advantage of the opportunity, giving students a chance to interact with professionals in the field.

A total of 31 students in grades 9-12 from Sandy Creek attended the BEAM (Black Energy Awareness Month) event Oct. 16 at Georgia Tech, the theme was “Empowering A Generation: Today, Tomorrow & Beyond.”

The interactive environment gave students the opportunity to learn about the energy industry and new technology, as well as various career opportunities within the energy field. Many students who attended have applied, or will apply, to attend Georgia Tech in the future.
