Heritage Christian Church in Fayetteville hosted the Global Leadership Summit, a two-day, world-class leadership event, Aug. 6 and 7 on its south Fayette County campus.

The leadership summit was attended by local county officials, business leaders and several local churches.  The summit was telecast live from the Willow Creek Association’s campus near Chicago to over 350 host sites. Heritage was one of four sites in Georgia.

“Attendees heard world-class leaders from across the board share leadership nuggets and help those attending understand their grander vision for leading,” said Mike Conaway, Heritage Christian’s discipleship pastor.

David Thornton of IDS said, “The GLS summit was great. I walked away both days feeling uplifted and driven by every presentation as each one of the speakers delivered a different message. It enforced great leadership principles driving the need for integrity, honesty and above all having Christ number one in my life.  As I continue to grow as a leader, hopefully I will never stop growing, most of all to lead from my heart and keep my heart close to Jesus.”

Thornton added, “At IDS, we de-ice airplanes and it is important not only for the employees to understand the significance of following procedures,  but to understand the reason why we do this, understanding the why lets them know the reason and knowing the reason helps them do their job and become better employees.”

Genny Elrod of locally operated Delta Community Credit Union said,  “The   Summit has been an impactful message of leadership and training for me. I have returned to work and lit a fire of leadership to our team.  In fact, I have already signed up to attend next year’s Global Leadership Conference just so we at Delta Community Credit Union could have the audio for training.”

Heritage will be a premier host site next year on Aug. 11 and 12, 2016. For information on the 2016 summit, contact Mike Conaway, discipleship & community engagement pastor, mikeconaway@heritagechristian.org.
