Fayetteville’s seventeenth annual Christmas Tree Lighting on Sat., Dec. 5. Officially marks the beginning of the Main Street Holiday Season. The public is invited to gather at The Gazebo, with festivities scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m.

The traditional lighting of the tree will be followed by complimentary carriage rides with Santa from 7-9 p.m. We are also partnering with the Fayette Samaritans again this year to help fill their pantry. Beginning November 23, we ask that you bring non-perishable food items, and canned goods with you to drop off at the “LITTLE RED MILL” donation area at The Gazebo
Heritage Christian Church Dickens Village characters will serve free hot chocolate and Georgia chestnuts. Children can make their own toys at the “Toy Shoppe”. Entertainment is provided by Jason Bowen, a local recording artist, producer and songwriter who has toured with Barry Manilow and written or produced hit songs in several genres including rock, country and gospel. Also included in this year’s line-up are performances by the Heritage ensemble.
This year’s honored guest performing the actual “lighting” of the tree will be a student from the Joseph Sams School. The Joseph Sams School Choir will be performing following the lighting of the tree as the grand finale.
Prior to the tree lighting event, everyone is invited across the street to a pre-lighting Victorian Christmas open house at the Holliday-Dorsey-Fife Museum from 12-4 p.m. Free ornament making demonstrations and goodies for the children will be provided.
