An April 21 altercation in downtown Fayetteville over a fender-bender led to a physical altercation and two arrests.
Magan Cross, 40, of Fayetteville, was charged with second degree damage for property, battery and disorderly conduct, according to Fayette County Jail records.
William Cross, 71, of Fayetteville, for charged with simple assault, according to jail records.
Fayetteville Detective Mike Whitlow said the April 21 incident occurred in the parking lot behind the retail businesses in the downtown area on the west side of Glynn Street.
Whitlow said the owner of one of the businesses was told a relative’s vehicle had been struck in the rear parking lot. The business owner then exited the business and entered the area of the parking lot where the vehicle was parked.
Though details of what occurred next are not fully known, Whitlow said an argument ensued and, at one point, Magan Cross exited the vehicle and during the altercation struck the store owner, knocking his glasses off and dentures out of his mouth, Whitlow said.
Magan Cross was later transported for medical treatment due to a knee abrasion that came as the store owner pushed her away from him and to the ground.
Whitlow said rooftop witnesses at a nearby restaurant, Twisted Taco, provided officers with statements of the incident.
