A Lithonia man facing murder charges in Fulton County has been arrested in Texas on aggravated assault charges stemming from a Feb. 24 incident where he fired shots at a vehicle in north Fayette County.
Antonio Wilson, 23, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, said Sheriff Barry Babb. Wilson is currently on bond from a 2012 felony murder charge in Fulton County, Babb added.
Babb said deputies on Feb. 24 responded to the area of Ga. Highway 85 North and Corinth Road after a call of shots being fired at a vehicle.
Babb said the driver told deputies that she and her passenger were confronted by the passenger’s ex-boyfriend at her residence in Clayton County.
While at that location Wilson, driving a Dodge Challenger, approached the victims and had a verbal encounter with them, Babb said.
“He then fired multiple shots at their vehicle as it attempted to flee the area,” said Babb.
The victims told deputies they left the area and drove to the area of Corinth Road. While at the intersection with Hwy. 85, Wilson pulled beside the vehicle, pointed a handgun at them and fired, Babb said, adding that a bullet struck the rear passenger window. Neither of the victims were injured in the incident, said Babb.
The victims said Wilson drove toward Fayetteville, Babb said.
Sheriff’s investigators found six 9mm shell casings at the Clayton County residence and one shell casing in Fayette County.
Fayette investigators and U.S. Marshals tracked Wilson to Houston where he was arrested on March 3, Babb said, noting that Wilson had the 9mm Glock pistol in his possession at the time of the arrest.
Babb said local authorities are awaiting Wilson’s extradition to Georgia.
