A couple eating on the outdoor patio at a Fayetteville restaurant on Feb. 28 was struck by a BB likely fired from a moving vehicle.

Fayetteville Det. Mike Whitlow said the couple was dining on the outdoor patio of the La Hacienda restaurant on North Glynn Street over the weekend when a copper BB struck the man in the face. The BB bounced off and struck the woman in the wrist, Whitlow said.

Whitlow said the BB was shot from the street and likely fired from a moving vehicle.

“This is callous and stupid,” Whitlow said of the incident.

Whitlow said there have been several similar incidents over the past few weeks, though none of them involved a person being struck.

Several vehicles at Allan Vigil Ford on North Glynn Street were struck with BBs last month and several shots were fired at the windows of businesses in the Fayette Pavilion last week, Whitlow said.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to contact the Fayetteville Police Dept. at 770-461-4441.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry Babb said there have also been incidents with people firing BBs in the unincorporated area.

Babb said there have been several incidents of BBs being fired in northeast Fayette County during the past few weeks in the areas of Banks Road and the Fayette Pavilion.
