Wren honored by Landmark

Kyle Wren, the first player from Landmark Christian School to sign a professional baseball contract, will be honored by the school Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 5:30 p.m. when he is presented with his jersey and throws out the ceremonial first pitch to open the 2015 baseball season.

He came to Landmark in elementary school and participated in middle school cross-country, baseball and football. He started as a freshman on the varsity baseball team and went on to make back-to-back state finals appearances while leading the team in hitting.

After finishing with a career batting average of .455, Wren attended Georgia Tech, where he twice led the ACC in hits and was named to the freshman All-American team.

After his junior year he signed with the Atlanta Braves after being drafted in the eighth round in 2013. He was the organization’s Single-A Player of the Year and was promoted to AA during the second half of the 2014 season. He was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers in November.
