0The first Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) class at Piedmont Newnan Hospital is gearing up.
The chaplain interns will complete 400 hours per unit across 20 weeks. Their work will include visiting with patients and families and interacting with staff.
One hundred hours will be spent in peer group and individual supervision presenting and discussing case studies, required reading in behavioral sciences, theology and pastoral care, personal reflection, interpersonal relations and didactic presentations.
Out of an intense involvement with persons in need and the feedback from peers and supervisors, students develop a new awareness of themselves as persons and the needs of those to whom they minister. From theological reflection on specific human situations, they gain a new understanding of ministry.
Interns who complete the unit are awarded a certificate for one unit of CPE.
