Fayette County Kicks Off Comprehensive Plan Update with Successful Visioning Fair

FAYETTE COUNTY, GA (October 29, 2026) – Fayette County’s first Comprehensive Plan Visioning Fair drew nearly 100 residents, business owners, property owners, community stakeholders, and elected officials on Tuesday evening, marking a strong start to the County’s Comprehensive Plan Update process.

Held at the Fayette County Health Department, the interactive workshop provided community members with an opportunity to share their ideas, concerns, and aspirations for Fayette County’s future. Throughout the evening, participants engaged in meaningful conversations about topics ranging from housing and economic development to parks and recreation, transportation, community character, and overall county needs and opportunities.

County staff and planning team members expressed appreciation for the strong turnout and enthusiastic participation.

“We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the success of this first public engagement event,” said Deborah Bell, Planning and Zoning Director. “The thoughtful feedback, productive discussions, and community spirit demonstrated throughout the evening reflect the commitment Fayette County residents have to shaping the future of our community.”

Designed with a county fair-inspired atmosphere, the Visioning Fair featured interactive activities that encouraged attendees to provide input on the priorities and challenges facing Fayette County. Feedback gathered during the event will help inform the goals, policies, and recommendations included in the updated Comprehensive Plan.

The Comprehensive Plan serves as Fayette County’s long-range policy guide for future land use, development, infrastructure improvements, and community investment. The update builds upon previous planning efforts while addressing current needs, emerging opportunities, and changing community conditions.

Residents who were unable to attend the Visioning Fair, as well as those who would like to provide additional feedback, are encouraged to participate in the online community survey. Public input remains a critical component of the planning process, and community feedback will help guide decisions that shape Fayette County’s future.
