The Coweta Community Foundation is holding its second annual wine tasting and auction hosted at the Senoia Coffee & Cafe at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $60 per person. Besides great wine and food, there is a 1 in 125 chance raffle for a Green Egg, tickets are $20 each.

The Southern Crescent Chorale is staging its gala “America the Beautiful” today at the Dolce Peachtree-Atlanta in Peachtree City, Georgia at 8 p.m. Come and enjoy a wonderful evening of music and dancing.
There will be lots of time for dancing to the sounds of the popular local band “Second Time Around” and visiting with friends throughout the evening along with a performance by the Chorale to preview the season. Fayetteville Main Street is pleased to announce multiple events happening in downtown Fayetteville today with entertainment throughout the day. At the Gazebo, residents can shop at an extended Market Day that runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The Great Pumpkin Festival and Trick or Treat on Main Street will be a fun spectacle around the square as families come downtown to enjoy hay rides, train rides, face painting, games and sightseeing of the hundreds of decorated pumpkins that will be on display across the street at the Old Courthouse lawn throughout the week leading up to Halloween.
The Senoia Optimist Club is hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser today from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Senoia Senior Center on Howard Road to support the Senoia Area Athletic Association and other youth programs and activities in the community. Admission is $5 for all you can eat
The Prologue Players of Fayette County High School will present the award winning play “The Yellow Boat” by David Saar.The title comes from a Scandinavian folksong that tells of three little boats: “One was blue, one was red and one was yellow as the sun. They sailed far out to sea. The blue one returned to the harbor. The red one sailed home, too. But the yellow boat sailed up to the sun.”
The Yellow Boat will be performed today.There will be two shows, one matinee at 4:30 p.m. and one evening play at 7 p.m. Admission is only $5.
With just two more Walk With a Doc events left for 2014, Piedmont Newnan Hospital urges any member of the Coweta County community to join up with other walkers today at Carl Miller Park, at 70 Sewell Road in Newnan. David Bodne, M.D. of Piedmont South Imaging in Newnan will lead the walk. Walkers are encouraged to gather at the main pavilion of Carl Miller Park by 8:15 a.m. as the walk begins promptly at 8:30 a.m.
Dr. Bodne will take about five minutes to talk about a health topic of his choice before leading all on a walk through the park while answering questions from participants. Participants will receive a free water bottle, pedometer and T-shirt. The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Fitness Center will host the seventh annual Autumn Chase today at Newnan Utilities’ Carl Miller Park in Newnan. The Autumn Chase Trail Race, which supports the fitness center’s community fitness programs, consists of a 15k (9 miles) and 5k (3.2 miles) race. The 15k begins at 8 a.m., the 5k will begin at 8:30 a.m., a one-mile fun run will start at 9:15 a.m., and a tot trot at 9:30 a.m.
Those interested in supporting the event but not participating in the races can enjoy activities for the entire family, including a Kids’ Castle park, sponsor giveaways and more.
Registration details: $30 registration fee. One-mile fun runners and kids ages 12 and under can participate for $10. Phantom Runner registration fee is $20.

Awards will be given to overall winners (male and female) and first, second and third place finishers in all age groups. Local author Sharon Marchisello will sign copies of her new murder mystery, “Going Home,” today from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Peachtree City library. She is a member of Sisters in Crime and the Peachtree City Writers Group. “Going Home” was inspired by Sharon’s mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s, and the story explores the challenge of solving a crime when a potential witness cannot rely on her memory. Copies of “Going Home” will be given away in exchange for donations of at least $18 to the Fayette Humane Society.

The South Metro Rose Society meets at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Bank in Fayetteville. All guests are invited to attend free of charge. This month’s program features Master Rosarian, Ryan Tilley, speaking on “Newer Rose Varieties and a New Way of Trying Them Out.”
Tilley has been in the rose business for almost 23 years, is owner of “Rose Gardens by Ryan” and publisher of “The Georgia Rose,” a quarterly rose newsletter distributed throughout the Southeast. His personal rose garden has been featured on the Atlanta Botanical Garden’s Connoisseur Tour and past American Rose Society National Conventions held in Atlanta. Ryan cares for over 70 rose gardens including several award-winning gardens.

Wellspring Living is looking forward to hosting its 10th annual 5K, Run for ONE, today at 8:30 a.m. at The Bridge Community Center in Peachtree City. Following the success and growth of their previous 5K races they are expecting their biggest turnout to date. Wellspring Living have a vibrant history of engaging communities in the issues of sexual exploitation. During their previous eleven 5K races, Wellspring Living have attracted more than 3,500 cumulative runners and volunteers, raising over $250k to support women and girls who have been sexually exploited.
This year, participants can signup at WellspringLiving.org/RUN to secure their place in this years Peachtree City Run For One 5k. Get a team of 12 together to run, walk, or be a phantom runner, and registration is only $25. Must be registered by October 15.

Fayette County Retired Educators meets today at 10:30 a.m. at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church Family Life Center. This is the annual scholarship meeting with auctioneer Patty Brown of Red Belly Rooster Auction Theater.
Proceeds from the auction provide a scholarship for a senior from one of Fayette County Schools who aspires to become an educator. FCREA is an advocacy and information sharing group of Teachers Retirement System of Georgia members. TRS members, their spouses, and the general public are invited to this special meeting. The group is also a drop off station for items for Fayette Samaritans and the Honeycomb (a teacher materials recycling center.

New Hope Baptist Church is having their annual pasta dinner and auction fundraiser and Harvest Classic 5K Walk this year. The dinner and auction are tonight at 6 p.m. at New Hope Baptist church in Fayetteville. The next day will be the 14th Annual Harvest Classic 5K Race/Walk RRCA State championship.
The race begins at 8 a.m.
The Heart Cry Ministry group from New Hope Baptist is the sponsor group of the event. Heart Cry supports orphan and widow care to the local community and to countries abroad. This year, the events main goal is to help raise remaining funds necessary to build new housing for an orphanage in Haiti.

The Southern Crescent Storytellers, a cluster group of the Southern Order of Storytellers, will present a Tellabration of stories for all ages at the Peachtree City Public Library, Floy Farr Room from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Sponsored by The Friends of the Peachtree City Library, admission is free and refreshments will be served. Long-time Fayette County citizens and professional storytellers will relate tales about our county’s past. Hear stories about Brooks, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, and all of the county’s charming and historic towns.

A Southern Crescent Chorale benefit concert is today at 3 p.m. at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville. The SCC honors our veterans with the performance of the Randall Thompson classic “Testament of Freedom” with text from the writings of Thomas Jefferson. Accompanied by the Southern Crescent Symphony, the SCC will be joined by choirs from Starrs Mill and Whitewater High Schools.
The concert will benefit EXPOSE ATL which is an organization that works to supplement law enforcement efforts to rescue children who are trapped in sex slavery in metro Atlanta. It’s that time again!! Time to lace on those Jingle Bells and get ready for the 18th annual Jingle Bell Trail Race today. Race organizers are expecting many kids and adults to come to school and participate in the 5K run, which is part of the Grand Prix Rotary Series, or the more leisurely 1-mile run/walk. A festive atmosphere is promised for all participants!
This event is designed to boost community spirit, promote wellness, and raise money to support our school improvement focus for the students who attend Peachtree City Elementary. Our students and staff look forward to this fun holiday event each year because it’s a time to gather with friends and neighbors for a little holiday cheer, and it also gives us an opportunity to burn off some of those holiday goodies.
Applications to enter Jingle Bell Trail are available in the school’s front office, online at www.pces.org and will be distributed to locations throughout Fayette County. Applications will be accepted until the morning of the race, although t-shirts will only be guaranteed for applications received by November 1. The 5K run will begin in front of the school at 9 a.m., while the 1-mile run/walk will start 10 minutes later. Participants are encouraged to arrive at the school, located at 201 Wisdom Road, at least 45 minutes early to allow time to park, enjoy the festivities, and warm up. The sixth annual Bedford Dasher 5K run/walk and 200m Elf Run at The Bedford School in Fairburn is today. Awards will be presented to age group and overall race winners and participants will receive a long sleeved race T-shirt.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the 200m children’s Elf Run starts at 8:45 a.m. with packet pick up/race day registration beginning at 7:30am.
