Spring Hill Elementary School hosted the first official meeting of the reestablished Fayette County PTO Alliance, bringing together parent leaders from across the district to strengthen collaboration, communication, and shared success.
Originally formed to unify Parent Teacher Organizations across Fayette County, the Alliance has been revived with a renewed commitment to supporting students, teachers, and school communities through collective effort.
The initial meeting included representatives from seven Fayette elementary schools, marking the first step in rebuilding a broader, countywide network. The session began with interactive icebreakers to build relationships across campuses, followed by working group discussions centered on “Thorns and Roses,” where participants shared both successes and challenges from their PTO experiences. Conversations highlighted effective fundraising strategies, resource-sharing opportunities, and practical ways to improve outcomes at each school.
A key theme throughout the meeting was the power of community and shared learning.
“The biggest takeaway for me is community. Knowing that each of us are facing similar challenges in our PTOs and that we can come together, share knowledge, and make things easier for each other,” said Whitney Young, PTO representative at Inman Elementary.
Leaders also emphasized the importance of unity across schools and a collective responsibility to support one another.
“We’re all one, working toward the same goal of betterment for our schools across Fayette County. If one school needs support, we should be able to step in and help,” said Brittany Mynatt, PTO President at Crabapple Lane Elementary.
As both a local PTO leader and organizer of the Alliance, Spring Hill Elementary’s leadership underscored the long-term impact of this initiative.
“This meeting brought people together around one unified mission to support students, teachers, and families. Moving forward, this unity will help us deliver even more for our school communities,” said Patrice Armstrong, PTO President and Fayette County PTO Alliance Organizer at Spring Hill.
The Fayette County PTO Alliance plans to hold quarterly meetings, supported by smaller working groups that will stay connected between sessions to maintain momentum and continue sharing resources. The Alliance invites boards from elementary schools across the district to join the growing network. Schools interested in participating in future meetings and collaborative working groups are encouraged to connect and become part of this countywide effort to strengthen outcomes for all students.
