The Fayette County Board of Education on Monday unanimously approved a $10,000 contribution to the Fayette Visioning Initiative.

Superintendent Jody Barrow recommended the board’s approval of the contribution.

Visioning Initiative co-chair Bob Ross in an April 30 letter said, “Much of the current effort supports the planning and implementation needs of our public school system and other local government entities. For that reason, the board of commissioners and city council of Peachtree City have contributed $10,000 each, and other jurisdictions have requests under consideration. May we add the board of education to the list?”

Ross in the letter noted that the initiative has been active for more than a year. The initiative seeks to answer several questions fundamental to Fayette County’s future. Those include:

• Where are we now in terms of areas such as economics, quality of life and demographics?

• Where are we going if we take no deliberate action?

• Where do we want to go?

• How do we get there?

• How do we sustain engagement, assess effectiveness and update the plan?
