The Citizen is proud to feature exceptional student-athletes from across our community each week. Whether they’re leading their teams to victory, showing strong character on and off the field, or making steady progress in their sport, these athletes represent the very best of local youth. We celebrate their hard work, dedication, and leadership in schools, leagues, and clubs throughout Fayette and Coweta counties.

This week, we’re proud to feature these athletes:

East Coweta High School

Miyah Neal
Flag Football

A great senior leader that plays safety on defense and receiver on offense. Makes plays on both sides of the ball including the game winning touchdown against Wheeler.

Fayette County High School

Gavin Blalock
Wrestling

He has stepped up as a role model and always helps out his teammates. He always gives his full effort in matches and in conditioning. He consistently shows up to practice. I am excited to see what he achieves this season.

McIntosh High School

Carson Wingo
Flag Football

“Congratulations to Senior Carson Wingo, this week’s Athlete of the Week for McIntosh Flag Football! Carson gives her best effort every day, playing on both offense and defense and rarely coming off the field. Her energy, leadership, and work ethic set the standard for the team.” – Coach Roberts

Starr’s Mill High School

Aftyn Heiden
Basketball

Aftyn has shown incredible growth and maturity on the floor and in the classroom this year. She consistently holds herself to a high standard of effort in both settings.

Trinity Christian School

Elle Jerger
Cross Country

Elle is a fantastic runner and has had an incredible season. After taking a 2 year sabbatical from running she is back! She has taken 2:30 off her original time since the beginning of the season and is such an incredible teammate. I’m so grateful for Elle!

Whitewater High School

London Fouse
Basketball

London has worked incredibly hard this year. She attended conditioning every day and continues to grow as a basketball player. Through her dedication and effort, she consistently improves her skills. London is a true leader both on and off the court, and there’s no doubt she will continue to accomplish great things.
