Edith (“Edie”) Elizabeth Worrell, the beloved first-born to George and Betty Worrell, was welcomed into the world in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 19th, 1954. As the eldest of five children, Edie embraced her role with warmth and devotion, forever holding a cherished place in her family’s hearts.

Edie is survived by her loving mother, Betty Worrell of Peachtree City; her brother, Ed Worrell of Fayetteville, Georgia; her sisters Melody Parker of Suwanee, Georgia, Dawn Arends of Bellevue, Colorado, and Stephane Lunan of Houston, Texas. She delighted in her role as aunt to Andrea Pearson, Ashley Reynolds, Eric Worrell, Alex Worrell, Betty Thompson, Emily Arends, and Jessica Arends. Edie graduated from Wylie Texas High School and worked in various food and janitorial services roles. She was highly thought of and even won an award from the State of Georgia for her work performance.

For 71 years, Edie was a constant companion to her mother, Betty. She was the sister most precious to all, adored and deeply loved by every member of the family. Edie’s welcoming, warm spirit made her unforgettable; every person she met was touched by her positive nature, laugh and smile.

Even in troubled times, her resilience shone. Her attitude through everything was always “I’m fine.” Each day brought her joy as she eagerly anticipated phone calls with family, games of dominoes, and her favorite TV shows and movies.

Edie was enthusiastic about food and experiencing new places—she loved trying new recipes, travels to the beach, adventures with mom and family, restaurants, and trying different cuisines. In all the families travels, Edie was the dependable navigator as her memory for direction was remarkable.

Edie worshiped at Flat Creek Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Georgia where she was surrounded and supported with love during her last years.

Edie’s life was truly special—she leaves us with a legacy rich in family memories and unwavering faith. She was our joy. Today, we celebrate Edie as a wonderful woman of faith, reunited in Heaven with Jesus, her beloved father George Worrell, and her grandparents Leola and Roy Haberer, as well as Champ and Dolores Worrell.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Peachtree City. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
