As a Hispanic Heritage Month celebration, students at Huddleston Elementary researched and made posters highlighting influential historical figures.

Over the course of three weeks, Jana Snow’s 2nd grade class worked with media specialist Katie Arp during STEAM time in the library. They started by reading “Imagine” by Juan Herrera, the first Hispanic US Poet Laureate. The book shows how successful people can come from many different places and backgrounds.

Students researched an influential Hispanic American, learning their country of origin and how they have contributed to American culture. They then created and presented a poster about the person they researched, with the finished products displayed next to a collaborative mural to highlight several influential Hispanic Americans.
