James “Jim” Edward Gober, 84, of Fayetteville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2025. He was born to Milton L. and Vivian Beatrice Frost Gober in Birmingham, Alabama, on Tuesday, October 15, 1940. Born and raised in Birmingham, he met and kept lifelong friends. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and the Alabama National Guard. He worked for Mead Packaging after moving to Atlanta, but his work ethic was evident in every aspect of his life as a dedicated provider for his family. Jim was an active church member at Fayetteville First Baptist, Woosley Baptist, and Living Faith Fellowship. He joyfully and wholly dedicated himself to his family and was fully involved in whatever activity or work they pursued. Despite health challenges in his later years, he selflessly and humbly led his family with wisdom, faith, and encouragement. As he grew older, his greatest passion to know, serve, and worship Christ Jesus became even stronger and more evident in his life. In his suffering he showed patience, joy, and a growing trust in God. He finished well. Jim is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Thomas L. Gober. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Betty Bowling Gober; sons, Kyle (Karen) Gober, and Kevin (Valerie) Gober; 4 grandchildren, Jeff (Amber) Ewing, Ross Ewing, Benjamin Gober, and Sarah Anne Gober; his cherished great-grandchildren, Carter, Blake, and Evelyn Ewing; his sister, Linda Talbert; along with several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Living Faith Fellowship with pastor Chris Perkins officiating at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fayetteville, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Jim will be laid to rest at Camp Memorial Park after the service. Those desiring to make contributions in lieu of flowers may make donations in Jim’s name to the Missions Fund at Living Faith Fellowship. We welcome you to leave your condolences, thoughts, and memories of Jim on our Tribute wall. Mowell Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Fayetteville, www.mowells.com
