Students win at regional Literary Days Competition

Fayette schools dominated the 2014 Griffin RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) Regional Literacy Days Competition for middle schools, taking nearly 25 percent of the available awards.
Flat Rock Middle students showed their strength in the competition, earning three Poetry Recitation placements in all three grade-level categories: Camden Day took second place for sixth grade, Dresden Day took third place for seventh grade, and Anna Bridgeman took first place for eighth grade.

Rising Starr Middle had two students place in Ready Writing for their grade levels: Brady Meyer took first place for seventh grade, and Elena Wernecke took third place for eighth grade.
Also earning a placement in the Regional Literacy Days Competition for elementary aged students was Elyse Duley of Sara Harp Minter Elementary who took third place in Poetry Recitation for fifth grade.

The 2014 Griffin RESA Literacy Days Competition is an annual event held among elementary and middle schools in the Griffin RESA region that includes the school systems of Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson counties.
