As the calendar moves towards autumn, festivals begin popping up on Fayette’s events calendar. Two of the more popular festivals take place this weekend.
Founders Day in Tyrone’s Handley Park begins Friday at 5 p.m.
Friday night will feature food, arts and crafts,carnival rides, band, karaoke, the winners from the Sandy Creek Talent Show,and Magician Ken Scott.
Saturday’s festivities begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Fun Run sponsored by The Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club. Then at 11 a.m., the parade begins in downtown Tyrone. The festival opens at noon and runs until 11 p.m. There will be arts and crafts and food vendors, carnival rides, ice cream and hot wing eating contests.
Local dance groups,demonstrations, Vocalist Matthew Rammig and The Hudson Road Band will perform and fireworks will begin at 9 p.m.
Sunday’s hours are from noon until 6 p.m.. Sunday will feature church praise music, arts and crafts,food vendors, hot dog eating contest and carnival rides.
There is a $1 per person entry fee into the festival. Ride bracelets may be purchased for $20.
Bracelets are good for Friday 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday noon to 5 p.m. or 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. or Sunday noon to 6 p.m. ATM on site.

In Peachtree City, the annual Shakerag Arts and Crafts Festival is Saturday and Sunday.
This annual event is known for its handmade arts & crafts and the delicious array of food vendors. This year, Shakerag will offer a variety of vendors from around Georgia and the South, with unique items that include pottery, paintings, ceramics, clothing, florals, pet accessories, and jewelry. A children’s area will feature games, pony rides, and inflatables for minimal fees.
Event is held rain or shine.
The event runs from 10 a..m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. at Shakerag Knoll at 191 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City.
