A man wanted by Peachtree City police on child molestation charges was arrested last week by the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force.

Ricardo Luis Sullivan, 27, was found in Austell, Ga. Sept. 4. As agents moved in to make the arrest, he attempted to run away and tried to pull a loaded .410 caliber single-shot pistol from his pocket, officials said. Marshals were able to subdue him before he could reach the gun, officials said.

Sullivan is charged with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery stemming from n incident April 7 of this year involving the reported sexual assault of a juvenile female at the Concord Village apartment complex off south Peachtree Parkway.

Marshals said Sullivan was also wanted on a burglary charge from Gwinnett County and he will face additional charges of felony obstruction of a police officer and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in Cobb County relating to his arrest.

Sullivan was taken after his arrest to the Cobb County Jail, marshals said.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department has an officer assigned to the fugitive task force, and it was that agent who led the investigation into Sullivan’s whereabouts, officials said.
