The Fayetteville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints sustained a new bishop on Sunday, June 23. Bishop Doug Waldorf accepted the call to serve. Jack Campbell will serve as his first counselor and Gerald Davis as second counselor.
Waldorf met his wife, Angie, while attending North Carolina State University where he graduated with a degree in economics. He received an MBA in finance from Campbell University and was a manager of patient access at Duke University Health System for seven years.
Waldorf and his wife recently relocated to Fayetteville from Raleigh when he accepted a position as the director of patient access at Piedmont Henry Hospital.
As a lay minister, Waldorf maintains his full-time job. He and his wife are parents to five children; a nine year old daughter, seven year old son, and daughters who are four, two and nine months old.
His responsibilities as a bishop are to watch over, nurture and attend to the physical and spiritual needs of his congregation of approximately 400 members.
