The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will conduct a “Ten Thousand Villages Festival Sale” April 19 and 20 to benefit the ministries of the parish.

Merchandise will be set up in shop format in and around the parish hall on the church property, located at 130 Antioch Road just off Ga. Highway 92 south of downtown Fayetteville. Sale hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Items for sale will come from Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit charitable organization was founded in 1946. It facilitates the marketing of handmade gifts, jewelry, home decor, art and sculpture, textiles, servewear and personal accessories made by artisans in 38 countries of Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

“Participating artisans are encouraged to use environmentally friendly processes, sustainable natural resources and recycled materials to ensure that each product has been crafted responsibly,” said Victor Cornetto, one of the Nativity parishioners involved with the project.

Cornetto also said that Ten Thousand Villages was a founding member of the World Trade Organization and is a partner of the Mennonite Central Committee. It is one of the world’s largest “fair trade” organizations.
