Lake McIntosh is now full and the bid for the landscaping project for the park facilities off TDK Boulevard have been approved by the Fayette County Commission.
Commissioners Feb. 14 approved a low bid of $73,268 for the landscaping work and a $5,000 maintenance agreement.
The base bid for landscaping for Lake McIntosh Park includes various plant materials, some rip rap for shore line protection along the lake front and chain-link fence on the Coweta County side of the lake.
Among the plant materials to be installed are red maple, Sawtooth oak, Yoshino cherry, crape myrtle and dogwood trees along with a wealth of shrubs, flowering plants and grasses.
The bid was awarded to Steadham Grading, Inc.
While decades in the planning, the dam for the 650-acre lake was recently completed and quickly filled due to unexpectedly heavy rains.
The lake will serve as a drinking water reservoir for Fayette County.
